How did you get involved with World BEYOND War (WBW)?
I got involved with World BEYOND War when my Peace Studies professor at George Washington University, Tony Jenkins, asked the class if anyone would like to connect with an anti-war organization for some volunteer work.
What kinds of volunteer activities do you help with?
I’m a social media intern for WBW, with a focus on managing our Instagram account. I believe that it’s important to get our message to the public through any channels at our disposal! I track our Insights (followers, likes, and responses) and post our graphics, as well as news about upcoming events. I’ll also be volunteering as the photographer at our upcoming #NoWar2019 Conference in Limerick, Ireland.
What’s your top recommendation for someone who wants to get involved with WBW?
I recommend spending some time on our website, www.worldbeyondwar.org. It’s really easy to use and full of information about how to end war, and ways to connect with a chapter near you!
What keeps you inspired to advocate for change?
I think many people today find it hard to stay motivated to advocate for change. But something that really works for me is to examine my own life. When I let myself recognize the amount of time I spend that could be dedicated to helping people, the amount of waste I create, and the way I sometimes ignore all the resources and privilege at my disposal, I am re-motivated to take action. It doesn’t hurt that the team I work with at WBW is always so motivating and accommodating!
